What should I expect?

I am sure you read some of our other pages, so we won't bore you with repeating them. Our pet sitting service is based on the simple premise of great customer service. Customers come to us for a variety of reasons. Some are as simple as we showed up first in the search results. Others, like the glowing review from an acquaintance or coworker, are what we really strive for. Of course, we accept both!

The first visit with a pet sitter is BORING! You filling out paperwork, like the contract, vet releases, pet profiles, etc. To make it worse, your beloved pet is having a blast with our sitter. Whose pet is it anyway! After all the paperwork is complete, you and the pet sitter talk through all the services you need and how everything needs to be done. Then you give the sitter 2 keys, a non-master alarm code, and payment. The first visit is over.

You want payment up front!

Like most service companies, The Purrfect Nanny requires up front payment. Either by check, credit card, or money order. The easiest way is to use our online payment system. It is as easy as the power company's one. This has nothing to do with you specifically, it is just company policy to have payment in advance.

Why are you certified and not licensed like some of the other pet sitters?

Actually, we are both. All businesses are licensed. That simple means that they have a business license from the city, county, or state. Therefore, any pet sitter touting licensed is only taking advantage of the fact that most people equate license with some sort of competency test. In reality, most are just following the crowd. Not being a follower, The Purrfect Nanny choose the much harder route of being certified. Certified not only lowers the cost of our insurance and bonding rates, but it gives us that prestige that national certification brings. Yes, that is nationally certified. Cool huh?

Why should I trust you in my home while I am away?

Trusting us begins with that are truly committed to having satisfied clients. We are all members of the community in good standing. In addition, all pet sitters have undergone a background investigation to insure that they are good people. To further ease your worry, we are fully bonded and insured. Part of our triple edged commitment to ensure completely satisfied clients that come back repeatedly. Repeat business is what we are after. An unsatisfied client costs too much to replace. Being advocates of excellent customer service, we strive to ensure that not only are you satisfied but that we are as well.

Who all will have a key to my house?

We require two keys to your house. One key is kept in a locked box in our office. Your primary pet sitter holds the other key. The key tag has only your pet's name on it. No other identifiable information is on the keys. That way if a key is misplaced, lost, or stolen, it can't be associated with your home. Obfuscating data is the most secure means of securing your information. A key that has Bob written on it is absolutely worthless, unless you know where Bob likes to hang his tail.

What if the pet sitter has a personal emergency while taking care of my pets?

Each client has an alternate pet sitter assigned to them. This insures that when there is an emergency there isn't a doubt about who will take care of your pets. In the event that the alternate is unable to change their plans, then someone from the office will handle the pet sitting. This layered backup scheme is something that a single person pet sitting company is unable to provide.

Why can't pet sitters accept payments anymore?

Our company periodically goes through outside review cycles. We have had business coaches, financial consultants, security consultants, and more come to review our procedures. This time, we choose a financial consultant with tax experience. As our books and systems were opened up and talk centered around the handling and tracking of payments. Our advisor discovered that we were allowing independent contractors to handle payments. That violates the rules set by the IRS for independent contractors and we have made that change or others to ensure the continued success of The Purrfect Nanny. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but the legal standings of our corporation is very important to us.

Will I get information on my pet during the time I will be away?

You may request that the pet sitter provide you with updates while you are away. Some clients call this peace of mind, however, we have never had anyone continue doing so after the second day. Three calls a day while on vacation can be distracting! We are pet lovers and all have little friends. Some of us have a lot of them! We do understand your concern and are pleased to contact you as long as necessary. If you are traveling outside the lower continental states, we must insist that your updates come by email due to phone charges.
