Studies show that companionship of a pet can increase the quality of life for people especially for people with disabilities or illness, or those with little contact with others. Some families can no longer afford to feed themselves and their pets. They may feel they need to give up their pets because they can not care for them. Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen was established by SOS Club, a licensed, non- profit coorporation in Georgia, as a pet food bank and a pet assistance program for Georgia serving the Gwinnett and surrounding counties in hopes of keeping families together.

Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen coordinate’s with local co-ops, pet shelters, vet clinics and the Humane Society to try to fill the needs of pets and their owner’s. During the recent economic down turn, pet supplies have been stretched thin even as needs increase. Please consider helping out if you can.

Here is a list of some of their remarkable services!

A pet food bank program for families in need.

A pet supply service from collars, leashes, blankets and beds, to dog houses, scratching posts and fencing materials.

Medical services and supplies at discounted rates from one of our sponsors.

They have a “fixing for food program” that helps get pets “fixed” (spayed or neutered) to help with the overpopulation of unwanted pets. Through their program, when you have your pet “fixed” at one of their sponsoring vet’s discounted spay/neuter clinic, the vet will give you a pet food voucher for the amount you spent to bring to Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen for pet food and supplies.

They assist in a delivery program to have volunteers deliver pet food and supplies to seniors and people who are home bound or ill, who can’t get out themselves.

They have a homeless people with pets program that works with shelters and homeless people to get them the supplies they need to take care their pets. This program will gives the opportunity to see first hand the condition of the animals and help get them the food, supplies, and medical care they need. Someone can stop in with their pet to get supplies. While they wait they can sit and rest a while, have a hot cup of coffee or cup of hot soup, and have a warm bowl of pet food for their friend.

They have a temporary pet foster program that benefits those in need after a disaster or a medical emergency. They assist in giving animals a loving environment for a temporary period of time until the client gets back on his/her feet. They will also work with a pet adoption service for those who need it.

Daffy’s Pet Soup Kitchen has numerous programs to benefit the pet as well as the pet owner. Through your donations and your support by volunteering and having pet food drives, we can make this a reality. Please help today. Don’t delay one more minute. Someone needs your help to keep their family together, maybe someone you know. What kind of life would it be in the pound? How long of a life would it be? They deserve better.

This is a wonderful group and now some people really need just a little help, to make it possible for them to keep their pets.

I wish there were more places like this and people willing to help.
