Pets find themselves homeless too
30 Dec 2008
As the economy weakens and home foreclosures force families to seek new living situations, many cats and dogs are being left behind. the ASPCA estimates the current housing crisis has put 3 to 4 million pets at risk for abandonment. Animals arriving at shelters these days aren’t cute little puppies, but older family pets that can no longer be supported. There are great benefits to bringing home an older dog that should not be overlooked. While puppies are certainly cute and cuddly, they are babies and have a lot to learn. An older dog may have already been potty trained and may have nice house manners. We got our Barley when he was a year old. He was already trained and we didn’t have to go through the chewy puppy phase with him
Local shelters and animal rescues are running at full capacity. If you are considering adding a new furry family member please consider a rescue.
