Yummy dog treat recipe- Brownies!
13 Jan 2009
For anyone who has not ventured into the realm of pet treat baking, I highly recommend it. It is a fun way to treat your pet while keeping costs down and you know exactly what is going into their tummies!
Here is a recent contest winner- This recipe will soon join my collection.
K-9 Brownies
One pound chicken liver (beef or other can be substituted)
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup wheat germ
2 large eggs
3 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons honey (preferably from a local beekeeper)
½ cup water (more may be required if mixture will not pour and is too thick)
6 slices of bacon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut bacon into bite size pieces and brown in skillet. Pour off excess grease and let cool.
Mix the remaining ingredients together in a food processor or blender. Process until smooth. Pour into a 9 x 13 baking dish. Sprinkle cooked bacon on top and shake gently. Bake in center of oven for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool and enjoy!
Refrigerate or freeze promptly after cooled.
Since these brownies have no preservatives they will spoil if not frozen. I freeze mine and pull them out as needed.
