I can not imagine bringing my dog in for grooming and having him mauled. It is horrific that a child had to witness that! Personally I leave our Barley at home. He just gets too excited when he sees other dogs. All he wants to do is play but some dogs get frightened by his size. I think its great that PetSmart allows pets in the store, but pet owners have to understand the nature of their dog and be on alert at all times if they choose to bring them into that situation. I have seen these dogs pull their owners all over the store and people moving out of the way. I think the management shouldn't allow these animals to frequent the stores. A way to to do this with out discriminating against these animals would be to be to put a weight limit on animals to enter, perhaps 15 pounds and less. One of these animals attacked a little girl in my neighborhood last year. I am sure everyone has their story on these animals. 20 years ago these animals ( pit bulls ) were working farm animals and were never meant to be pets.
